Financial Implications of COVID-19 on Hospitals and Health Systems
Heading into the COVID-19 pandemic, the financial health of many hospitals and health systems were challenged, with many operating in the red. The AHA, along with numerous others, have rightly labeled this pandemic the greatest financial threat in history for hospitals and health systems as we continue to fight this pandemic at the same time that non-COVID patient visits remain below normal levels. This financial pressure has created a serious obstacle to keeping the doors open for many hospitals. While we appreciate the support from the Administration and Congress, we need further help to stay afloat to continue our mission of caring for patients and communities.
